HSSP Architects had a studio they liked, but the way their team worked had evolved. More online meetings and increased flexible working meant the rhythm of the day had changed. They needed dedicated space for focus and collaboration, and an environment clients would remember. As architects, HSSP knew the value of a good design process. They came to Blueprint with the challenges, and trusted us to shape the solution.

Where we started
The studio had served the team well for a number of years, but it was struggling to keep up with the day-to-day.
With limited meeting spaces available, calls were happening across the open-plan studio. It was difficult to find places for quiet work, quick catch-ups or relaxed conversations.
HSSP also wanted the space to reflect where the business was heading: a growing practice taking on larger, more prestigious commercial projects alongside their core projects.
Where we focused
We focused on making the studio more useful, flexible and easier to enjoy.
Adding choice into the space was a top priority. We created the right mix of spaces for different moments in the day: focused work, private calls, team conversations, mentoring, social time and client meetings.
We brought the team with us throughout the transformation. Through workshops, visuals, samples and clear presentations, we helped HSSP make confident decisions without overcomplicating the process.
The redesign also supported the shift to paperless working, clear desks and hot-desking, giving people more freedom to choose how and where they work.
What changed
The studio now works around HSSP’s team - not the other way around.
Quiet spaces, group areas, meeting rooms and relaxed settings all work together, so the team can move depending on the task, the project and who they need to work with.
That has changed behaviour. Less experienced and senior colleagues can now sit together more naturally, making it easier to share knowledge, solve problems and learn through live project work.
The client experience has changed too. Visitors now explore the studio, meet the team and see the practice in action before reaching the meeting space. It feels more open, more involving for all and more reflective of HSSP’s work.
The impact
The new studio is helping people work better, not just differently.
The team have more choice, better spaces for calls and focus, and more opportunities to collaborate throughout the day. The studio feels more fluid and connected, with people using it more intentionally.
Three months after completion, Blueprint carried out a post-occupancy review. HSSP reported 90–95% positive feedback, with more people choosing to use the studio because it supports the way they want to work.
And this is just the start. We’ve captured feedback on what could be even better, ready to polish and evolve the space further.
Blueprint helped us create a workplace that truly supports the way we work now, giving our team more choice, improving collaboration and creating a stronger experience for clients.
